ALL-AMERICA BOWLING AWARDS PRESENTED AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS BANQUET

 

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, MO---Nebraska senior Liz Kuhlkin was named the Division I “Player of the Year” and heads the five-woman All-America team that was announced Wednesday night at the NCAA Bowling Championship Bracket.

Jordan Richard of Central Missouri was voted the Division II/III Player of the Year. All awards are based upon a vote of NCAA head coaches who are members of the National Ten Pin Coaches Association (NTCA).

Kuhlkin is a three-time, first-team All-American from Schenectady, N.Y.  She led the NCAA with a 219 team game average, best in the country, and her 21.5 baker game frame average was the nation’s second highest. She had two tournament victories, six Top 5 and seven Top 10 finishes this season with a 90.4% strike or spare rate

Kuhlkin was joined on the first-team by Arkansas State’s Sarah Lokker, Vanderbilt’s Robyn Renslow, Stephanie Schwartz of Stephen F. Austin and Thashania Seraus of Maryland-Eastern Shore.

Lokker, a senior from New Baltimore, Mich., is also a repeat first-team pick and was last year’s Player of the Year. She won the Prairie View Invitational and ranked eighth nationally in team game frame average at 20.95 and fifth in baker frames at 20.967 despite missing part of the season with an injury. She is a two-time Junior Team USA member.

Renslow, a junior from Brentwood, Calif., is making her debut on the first-team after earning second-team honors two consecutive years. She ranked fifth nationally in overall frame average at 20.794.  Renslow made three all-tournament teams this season and had a high game of 290 at the Kutztown Invitational.

Schwartz is a freshman from Racine, Wis. Her collegiate career got off to a rousing start by averaging 241.6 at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Invitational, earning MVP honors. She made the all-tournament team at Fairleigh Dickinson’s Jamboree by averaging 225.5. She was all-tournament at the Southland Bowling League Championship and had a high game of 279 at the Arkansas State Invitational. She was also honored as the Rookie of the Year. 

Seraus is a junior from Oranjestad, Aruba. In her first year with the Hawks, she earned MEAC Rookie of the year and all-MEAC honors. She was a member of five all-tournament teams and MVP at the SFA Jacks Invitational. She ranked second nationally in overall team game average.

Richard was also named the Div. II/III Rookie of the Year and to the All-America second team. She ranked seventh nationally in team game frame average at 20.98 and sixth in overall average combining team and baker games at 20.79.

Amber Lemke was voted the Coach of the Year after leading her Stephen F. Austin LadyJacks to their first NCAA Championship field appearance.  Div II/III Coach of the Year was shared between Leann Eimermann of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Ron Holmes of the University of Central Missouri
