Arkansas State Tops March Poll

 

NASHVILLE, TN---The Arkansas State Red Wolves (800 points, 91-29) were a unanimous choice as the NCAA’s No. 1 ranked bowling team in the March poll of the National Ten Pin Coaches Association.  The Red Wolves month was highlighted by winning the Sam Houston Track Kat Klash in convincing fashion and a second place finish at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic.

Arkansas State held a wide edge over second-place Nebraska (679 points, 68-28), which maintained its position from the February poll.  The Cornhuskers were ahead of third place Maryland-Eastern Shore (643 points, 78-19) and fourth place Central Missouri (629 points, 77-26)  while Fairleigh Dickinson (625 points, 84-25) dropped from a third-place tie last month into fifth.

Vanderbilt (541 points, 79-40) jumped two spots into sixth after finishing second at the Greater Ozark Invitational and winning the Music City Classic.  Sam Houston State (443 points, 90-42) is seventh, followed by Wisconsin-Whitewater (413 points, 71-38), Stephen F. Austin (387 points, 76-43) and St. Francis (Pa) (347, 61-27) round out the top 10.

The field of eight for April’s NCAA Championship will be announced next Wednesday, March 26 at 4:00 p.m. (EDT). The announcement can be viewed on www.ncaa.com
