Sam Houston Claims top spot in final poll

NASHVILLE, TN--- Sam Houston State, which captured the 2014 NCAA Bowling Championship April 12, topped the final poll of the 2013-14 season by the National Ten Pin Coaches Association.

The Bearkats amassed 562 poll points to place well ahead of Nebraska, who lost to Sam Houston in the championship match.

Arkansas State, which was No. 1 much of the year, finished third in the final poll, followed by Maryland-Eastern Shore, and Vanderbilt.

Wisconsin-Whitewater, finished in their highest position in school history, is sixth followed Central Missouri and Fairleigh Dickinson – all qualifiers for the eight-team championship field. 

Stephen F. Austin and St. Francis (Pa.) round out the poll’s Top 10 and maintain their position from the March Poll.

NTCA voters rank the top 20 teams on their ballot. Each position has a designated point value, ranging from 32 points for first place and one point for twentieth place. Teams are ranked using the adjusted total point standings, after the highest and lowest votes are dropped. The specific point values follow:
